and aunt mr and mrs b jones last thursday mrs george hlltz had the misfortune of falling down the cellar steps and breaking her hip she was taken to the toronto hospital we hope it wont be long till she will have fully recovered mr leslie garwood has been re newing old acquaintances around gormley over the weekend hehas been working near bowmanville but has recently enlisted with the rcap we wish provided all the ladies of the community are invited to attend we mourn the death of eddie hitchcock in church and community life he was an active worker at christmas time his home bachelor hall was the setting of an annual local event which will long be re membered by those who attended each year on some evening during the festive season young men of the community numbering generally about a dozen would gather at his home for a fowl dinner always it was a sumptuous repast complete with plum pudding and all the trimmings although he lived at teston for the past few years if his health before the evening service in the teston church began it cast a deep gloom over the congregation and minis ter mr hitchcock was waiting with others for the service to begin when a seizure overcame him dr big- ford of maple was summoned but death had claimed its vicitim mr hitchcock was as well as usual and had attended itho morning service and taken his place as sunday school superin tendent i deceased was 75 years of age and was born at victoria square having taught school in hls early years for the last few years he has resided at teston making his home recently with mr frank piercey he was always active in young peoples and sunday school work at victoria square and teston and has managed and directed several dramatic plays in young peoples groups following demise the body was
