two local couples namely mr and mrs william renuie and mr and mrs charles brillinger both of stouff- ville mr and mrs rennie were pre sented with a breakfast set of dish es from their family mr and mrs brillinger received a handsome mantel clock from their family both grooms of forty years age- thanked their families for these lovely gifts the double ceremony took ylace at stayner ontario sept 24 1902 they were united in marriage by rev henry goudie deceased brother of rev s goudie of this town mr and mrs rennie located in toronto for five years then they moved to the 10 th of markham where they farmed until two years ago when they moved to stouff- ville mr and mrs brillinger started farming at creemore these last few years they have farmed in markham township and are now located on the 9th of markham those present at the atha cele bration of the rennie family were rev e lucas and mrs lucas ruby shirley iva vernon meryl and norma lucas of elmwood ont mr roy wilson mrs wilson beatrice womens institute and a resident of the district east of stouffville for 37 years mrs wm t mackay passed away on friday sept 25 1942 at the old home now occupied by her son floyd mrs mackay was in her soth year and had been in ill health for a long time during her active life she was an enthusiastic member of the institute being one of its pro moters and first members born at port perry she was a of war in germany right after the dieppe raid a message came over the wire statins that fred was missing and because the interval seemed so long mrs castle feared for the worst i am so happy now she said to the tribune the message from ottawa read in part pte fred castle reported by international red cross geneva as a prisoner of war in germany fur ther information follows when re ceived the castle family have certainly distinguished themselves a younger son billie enlisted with the mer chants marine and was drowned in the north atlantic doing convoy duty to iceland his ship was sent down by a german submarine and one of his comrades who was saved and who returned to toronto later conveyed the information about billys fate al though he was previously reported as missing but h was hoped
