cation council met in the baptist church thursday of last week with sessions beginning at 10 am and continuing at 2 pm and 730 in the evening donald ratcliff presi- dent presided capacity audiences were present for all sessions and in the afternoon and again in the even ing i every available space in the church was filled and a number had to stand throughout the meetings at the morning session business and department reports were re ceived a resolution re the teaching of religion in the schools of the province of ontario was submitted to the convention and carried by a good majority the resolution reads as follows whefea we the members of the sunday school association of the township of markham here assemvled in annual convention having tiad our attention called to the fact that the theory of evolution is being definitely taught in the schools of our province in the public schools as well as in the high schools and therefore in the schools of our township and thai the text books used have been duly approved and authorized by our provincial dept of education and whereas such instruction is diam etrically opposed to the inspired teaching of the word of god that man was created by god and not evolved and that ho was created full and complete in every part made in the likqness of god he it resolved jthatthjs iday school association of the townsliip of markham hcrotby places itself on record as unqualifiedally opposed to such erroneous teaching being im parted to the immature minds ot school children or high school stu dents and that we register our most emphatic protest
