difficult to hire teachers for this school than for the average high school because while we demand the same high standards our school is designated only a continuation school and teachers in high schools hesitate to come here because they view it as a step down ward to go back to continuation actually there is no difference be tween stouffville continuation school and any high school in the stand aids and operation of the two if stoiffvilie were designated a high school there would be no change whatever at the school but there would be a change in the municipal management instead of a trustee board we would have a board of education and a separate board for the public school 230 pupils compete in the first annual rural schools sports meet newly elected moderator 230 students contest for different events including 12 war guests from britain more than 230 pupils of the rural schools of inspectorate one york county competed in the first annual sports meet held at the richmond hill fairgrounds on friday over 1600 pupils were present included among the large number of children taking part in the large sports events were 12 british war guests now attending schools in at the late home on gorham street were magistrate william keith life long friend douglas webster head of the juvenile court reeve earl toole and members of whitchurch council the funeral was conducted and thereforo a grand son of the late james obrien of this town jack marriott married llllie dales daughter of mrs dales and the late dr dales and for years conduct ed the eaton shadow lake farm he was a veteran of tho last war and has recently been invalided back to canada after service again overseas in a letter to his parents gordon thompson writes in part i am de lighted tc have had a talk with jack marriott ho explained so much to us too about what is going on and left us satisfied many men become dis gruntled at staying long in a depot before getting a boat home our job is exacting here and we try to make things as decent as possible for men passing through we moved out of liverpool a distance to nice new quarters sinco our place was demol ished by bombs we were all very lucky in that blitz during tho night i drove a truck as an ambul ance to take peoplo we dug from the ruins to the hospital i didnt have my clothes off for four nights but snatched a bit of sleep here and there i feci fine but am troubled a bit with the foot i had broken
