baby girl we were pleased to have mr irwin and his wife with us last sun day mr irwin igave us much thought to take home mrs james oliver en tertained them to dinner ringwood our church is receiving a coat of white paint harmon hoover of stouffville is the decorator mr and mrs frauklin hoover of lmarkham moved last week into the home formerly occupied by the late mrs lucy schell many from here attended the conference held in the wideman mennonite church from saturday to monday mrs leslie red spent last week with her parents in baltimore miss helen burkholder visited with relatives at breslau last week levi degeer formerly of box grove has rented the grove garage mr degeer operated a garage at box grove for over four years mrs margaret lehman is shortly expected out to ringwood for her visit and we learn that on may 25 she celebrated her 93rd birthday she lives with her daughter mrs herbert lageer and has spent 22 years in toronto but still like8 the country life best mr and mrs t grove moved into their remodelled home on the sth line last saturday mr and mrs albert king of 6th line moved on the farm vacated by imr grove which they had purchased some time ago during the month mr william dunkeld out again measles and chicken pox are back to visit us again mr and mrs h ir laurie from london visited his sister mrs david tran on saturday mr kirton also imr c bennett visited friends in scarboro on mon day afternoon some from here journeyed to niagara falls on monday and spent the day sight seeing sunday visitors with a carruthers were mr and imrs fred draper and eileen mr and mrs a draper and son walter prv g draper camp borden also miss verna zellers from mongolia rev arthur and mrs greer and sons from newmarket were friday visitors at arthur carrtrthers home also on monday rev russell and mrs vickers and daughter spent the afternoon and evening at the car- rtrthers home green river plans are being made for the green river garden party to take place earlier than usual this year watch for the date work has been started to improve the condition of no 7 highway be tween this place and locust hill we heartily welcome to the neighborhood mr and mrs albert smith at the former home of mr and mrs a w king now occupied by mr and mrs fred yake to bid farewell to mr and mrs king and their fam ily mr archie fleming acted as chairman and called upon mr ed nigh to read the address signed by arthur j orr minister ed nigh mrs harry timbers mrs harry timbes mr and mrs king and family were then presented with two beautiful occasional chairs and a handsome mirror anniversary there is to be a rally of all the mission circles of north presbytery on friday evening june 0th at victoria square church supper will be served at 530 the york county junior farmers judglngcompetltion is being held this friday june oth at richmond hill the first ball game of the season was on friday evening of last week when victoria square y p played against melville at victoria square our own team won with a score 207 the mission band held a special evening in the church on monday evening of this week when the young folks from the church of the cru saders toronto put on the program refreshments were served by our mission band the ypu held an interesting meeting on sunday evening last with viola avison in charge miss verna taun gave a helpful reading fitting in with the theme ot the worship service and miss dorothy oliver sang a solo miss ruby avison gave the topic the community was saddened to hear of the death of mrs hamilton mother of rev mrs mtekay on monday morning of this week mrs hamilton fell and broke her hip on friday evening of last week she was removed to the general hospital in toronto where an operation was performed and she seemed to come through the operation satisfactory but passed away early monday morn ing our deepest sympathy goes out to rev and mrs mckay and family- miss barbara barkey of toronto is home for a weeks visit with her parents mrs walter carter entertained the twinkling star class on friday evening imr and mrs s lewis attended the funeral of mr petty at cherry- wood on monday mr and mrs h pointon spent the weekend with her brother at woodstock mrs forman son and daughter of listowel called on mr and mrs h mcintosh and imr a davis friday last seveal in the community are somo what indisposed we hope they sunday evening christian endeavour meeting was held at mrs g wilsons on thurs day afternoon with a good atten dance the stouffvule and altona mennonite congregation are holding their quarterly meeting service in altona church sunday morning at 10 oclock rev m bricker will be the speaker mrs bishop and mrs postill from toronto spent the weekend with mr and mrs isaac lehman mr dawson campbell from new market training camp spent tues day evening with mary and norman lehman mr and mrs j wilton have re ceived word of the death- of their nephew who left toronto tor active service in england miss nora james has been spend ing a few days with her sister mrs george byer mr and mrs clarence jones spent sunday with mr and mrs norman neal altona institute will meet at mrs o w zollars mongolia on juno 11 at 2 pm mrs harris will give a report on the district annual pro gram under leadership of mrs wm slack the girls of the home lovers club attended achievement day of cot ton accessories for the club girls bedroom at uxbridge on saturday they were both surprised and de lighted to see imlss helen abel ot ringwood in attendance as one ot the critics in the various classes for the day the team won a trip to peterboro agricultural day in aug ust also gertrude winn had the highest score a special prize donated this year the girls recently enter tained the home economics coach miss jean scott and also their mothers at the home o thelr leader mrs dave crosier
