from visiting friends in the queen c potato crop to benefit by dept research with plans now being made for the potato crop of 1941 it is timely that we have just received from agricultural representative v m cockburn newmarket a report of the potato growing tests and demon strations conducted in york county last year by the ontario agricultural college and the dominion experi mental farm following up the work carried on by the agricultural com of york county council during the two previous years on each farm certified seed was planted on manured land with the demonstration acre receiving 750 lbs of 4s10 fertilizer that was not applied to the half acre check plot the check plot was sprayed for beetles while the demonstration acre received five sprays of bordeaux mixture bluestone and lime ad ding poison when necessary the check plots like most potatoes went down with late blight by the middle of september while the bordeaux sprayed plots were still green when visited by the group shown in the picture on october 1st to check up on the results at each farm two rows of each plot wore dug by the farmer one of each being bagged and weighed on the farm of l l peterson
