public school scholars under the leadership of their very capable teacher miss janet button next sunday morning at ten oclock in the christian church during the sunday school session mr herb hlsey manager of the rodanz ringwood farm is in the toronto general hospital for an operation on one ot his hands in september while working a cutting box he received a severe cut on one finger that has since proved trouble some it is hoped that he will regain use of it after the operation william dean mrs jackson of brookliu spent sunday with her sister mrs carter mr and mrs ross carter arrived home on sunday after honeymoon ing in quebec and eastern ontario mr and mrs h l smith of tor onto is spending a few days with friends here mr frank williams has been at home quits ill we hope he will soon be restored to health we sympathize at this time with mrs robert jarvis of markham and the daughters of the late mr jarvis who passed away last week mrs john cowan was rushed to the east general hospital on sun day with appendicitis we all hope she will have a speedy recovery this community was shocked and grieved to hear of the sudden death of mr wm petty of cherry wood we extend our sincere sympathy to mrs petty and family the young people are holding their next meeting on nov 12th at the home of mrs t williams word for roll call is three miss mildred carter is suffering with asthma we hope with the com ing of the clear cold weather this condition will clear up and that miss mildred will over come or outgrow this depressing ailment group no 1 of the ladies aid held a halloween party at the hall last wednesday evening a great variety of witches ghosts clowns and hard times costumes with ter rible faces made the evening a very merry affair the ninetyseventh anniversary of the founding of the baptist church green river took place last sunday mr richardson who is studying for the ministry at mcmaster university was guest speaker at both services and greatly enjoyed both for his sermons and his solos we extend a hearty vote of thanks to the peachs quartette for the very fine musical numbers rendered on sunday evening mr gordon lehman as leader of the home choir is to be congratulated for the fine musical numbers at the afternoon service on tuesday evening a con cert was given in the church by the livenemup concert party a section of the first avenue baptist church choir the program was divided the first half was more or less light and funny with a dash of patriotic airs and piano accordian selections by miss vera zubrisky of green river the second half was more of a serious nature also with piano accordian selections by mrs blake lehman in the morning am the kiusmeil quartette of toronto have chargt roy of the evening service mr and mrs a topper attended the miss winnie calder ot toronto who has been in the hospital for a tonsil operation is recovering splendidly miss calder is a frequent visitor here and also spends the summer at their cottage at musselmans lake the junior endeavour held halloween social at the home oil air and mrs roy davis on friday night despite the rainy weather there was a good turnout and the games and contests were enjoyed byl oil not forgetting the ghost storyl mre m connor of ballantrael spent a week with her niece mrsl d burnett our teacher miss ramer and pupils through very quaintly made invitations issued to all in the community invited them to attend their halloween festivities on thursday afternoon the response was large and all enjoyed the splendid entertainment a number came in costume for which the judges audrey smith and gwen trimmer awarded first prize to mrs r foote who impersonated an indian and mrs m ramer a ghost in the juvenile prizes ivan rae was the winner afternoon tea was served by the pupils mrs e fairies having the honour of pouring miss doris brown of box grovel was home on sunday the institute will meet at the home of imrs tranmer on thursday nov 14th there is a request
