strawberry festi val held at goodwood methodist church and was taken at the rear of the building many of these men have passed to the great beyond but the young er set are not by any means dead of course you all recog nize that it is goodwoods brass band in the foreground yes sir there sits drummer isaac shaver the stouffer boys and the lee brothers the man with the beard is john whittleton next john brown can you pick out jos henderson the whit tleton bros and the wagg boys john todd david watson will morganson mrs bert crosby the stafford brothers sam whittleton will hender son mrs george lee and a score of others we recognize the morganson family the todd family davies hackneys collins and watsons also the fields the scribe is one of the small boys in the right of the front row whom copies of the official prospectus containing complete details of the issue may be obtained the minister of finance reserves the right to allot cash subscriptions in full or in part the lists for cash subscriptions and conversion applications will open at the bank of canada ottawa at 9 am edt on monday september 9 1940 and may be closed at any time at the discretion of the minister of finance ley white also mrs everson norton of brougham goodwood united church workers will hold an evening of entertainment and pictures mr walter davey has been offered the services of our good friend mr william harris with his film pictures the war in europe which at this time should be very interesting also colored pictures of the worlds beautiful flowers a good program is being planned by the goodwod folks tea coffee sandwiches and cake will be served the program pictures and lunch for the sum of 25 for adults proceeds will be fo war activities mr harris gives his time services etc free t this good work brougham glad to report mr ber harvey improving although he is still confined to his bed visitors at the william elli cott home were mr and mrs wallace ellicott and mrs gor don of toronto also mrs ford of highland creek a j gray was sunday visit or with mr and mrs ralp carter of markham visitors at the j farley horn on sunday were mr and mrs rodd of raglan and the rod brothers of udora nephews o mr j farley mr and mrs stenner an family of peterborough were re cent guests of mr and mrs b easton mrs d stephenson spent a day with friends in toronto mrs w w gamble of toron to has been visiting her friend mrs d mairs school opened last week with a full attendance mrs john knox who is relieving mr mcwhirter is in charge miss c hogle of columbus- was the guest of her cousin marjoria hamilton mr mcwhirter who is en gaged in munition work calledj on old friends here recently miss m burton of detroi spent a few days with her siste mrs m hamilton next sunday being rally dajj there will be a combined churcrj and s s service at 2 pm mr william ellicott and mr jas farley are at newmarket where they have secured worl as carpenters mrs lemon has been visiting friends in toronto an event of more than usua interest to this community was the marriage in the churchl which was beautifully decoraj ted with autumn blooms oi miss jean eldest daughter of mr and mrs howard malcolm of locust hill and mr johrj knox eldest son of mr ah mrs william knox of st george rev i e kennedy pastor of the church officiated the groom was supported by his brother walter miss mary mal colm was bridesmaid the bride and bridesmaid were dressed in their fall ensembles with hats and accessories tc match miss helen sister oi the bride played the wedding music and accompanied heiu aunt mrs w j brown of torj onto who sang the voice from eden mr robert jack son and mr allen ellicot were very efficient ushers the church was filled to capacity with guests and interested friends about
