mr and mrs lionel douglas last week we are pleased to report that mr prank cooper returned to his home here from the hospital on saturday and is making steady recovery miss enid cook was home over the weekend from toronto mr harry found was missing from his usual place in the baptist sunday school last week being forced to remain indoors with a bad cold mr and mrs oscar barber were in the city on sunday visiting his mother who we understand has suffered several minor strokes re cently miss fern hill of port credit called on her grandmother mrs w hill on sunday mr and mrs thos coates of ux- bridge visited with mrs john coates on sunday mr and mrs morgan hill also mr and mrs clayton hill spent sunday with brother george hill and family mrs coppins who has been in the hospital has been taken to her home much improved the pearce family living east of town halve all been under the weather lately congratulations to mr and mrs harold loyst on the birth of a daughter born monday april 15th in the oshawa general hospital mr george mothersill of oshawa has taken a position in toronto while his father who has been ill is sufficiently improved to carry on his business alone the w a o in the united church this tuesday cvcnlng marking tho 25th anniversary of the cgit work in canada recovering from injury jack morgan who recently injur ed his knee while working in the bush on his old country com ing to this country about seven years ago suffers loss of leg mr alf rogers former claremont farmer now living in brooklin and who has been in serious condition of late with gangrene in one leg was removed to the oshawa hospit al last week where it was found necessary to amputate the limb to prevent spread of the infection mr rogers is well known in clare mont from the time when he work ed the property at lot 6 concession 6 pickering 80th birthday tuesday mrs ayres south of the village celebrated her 80th birthday on tuesday a beautiful ibirthday cake graced the table when numerous friends gathered for the party at the home of miss margaret graham congratulations are extended by the community and besf wishes for many more happy years wood bee saturday a woodcutting bee was held by the men of the united church on saturday to lay in next winters supply from a woodlot purchased from fred betz of stouffville the lot was situated near the norton sideroad on the 6th concession of uxbridge four generations present an unusual assembly gathered in the home of mrs ira powell one of this villages eldest citizens on sunday when four generations mrs florence midgley mrs midgleys daughterinlaiw and two great grandchildren were all present at the same time brougham mrs f gostick has been quite ill for some time but we hope for a speedy recovery glad to hear mrs l storry is improving after her illness mr and mrs d a beer and mrs m hamilton had a business trip to toronto one day last week mis marjorie hamilton eldest daughter of mr walter hamilton was taken suddenly sick on friday last she was rushed to oshawa hospital where she underwent an operation for appendicitis mr and mrs f dingman of whitby spent sunday with f ham and family mr and mrs e l crocker and mrs witter of toronto mr and mrs gerald harbron and bernice of pickering mr and mrs a b matthews and dora were all with l and mrs matthews on sunday it being their wedding anniversary mrs e anthony and children donald and joyce of whltevale spent the weekend with her mother mrs d soebeck mr and mrs woolhead of scar- boro have moved onto tho schlarr farm lately vacated by mr thomas robinson mr- and mrs h j philip of tor onto who recently purchased the hamilton estate on the 5th con which in future will ho known as long acres are busy these davs remodelling the house they intend
