by all pre sent mr and mrs telfer wegg and miss gertrude wegg entertain ed the members of the womens association of the melville united church at a valentine social which was held at the home of mr mrs rose of newmarket is spending some time with her sister mrs kirk mr and mrs e c blythe of toronto were sunday visitors at the smith home mr and mrs wilmot warrin er of markham were sunday visitors with their son harry warriner mr and mrs b gayman and lawrence also mrs n gayman of unionville had tea at the hoover home on thursday glad to welcome the new members in the choir at church on sunday keep up the good work on tuesday about 20 of the neighbours journeyed down to the cedarena rink and enjoyed a good skate but by the report next morning it is plain to see some of the older ones dont skate very often but all say they had a fine time and want to go again soon the monthly meeting of the wms was held at the wide- to see mr fergusons mother who is quite ill we as a community extend our sympathy to mrs wra paisley in her bereavement there was no united church service here on sunday owing to the funeral of the late mr kirk at peaches miss jean empringham has a big flock of chickens all to her self these days they happen to be the pox variety so we dont envy her very much we hope you chase them all away fast jean man home last tuesday miss wegg took the study book mrs wideman gave an instrumental on the piano which was enjoyed by all lunch was served by mrs brignall there were about 15 members present vandorf miss jean switzer was home over the weekend miss marjorie foster is spen ding a few days with misses alda and dorothy carr mrs loy carr spent a week with her sisterinlaw mrs m brillinger mrs morley sr is able to be up and around the house and her friends and relatives are pleased to hear the glad news our sunday school attendance is climbing up perhaps we will reach the 100 mark next sunday our ypu have been enjoy ing several skating parties at the aurora and newmarket arenas with our adjoining circuits prayer meeting is being well attended on sunday evening at 730 pm in the bible class room and our ypu is held in the sunday school room at 8 pm our temperance contest will take place on wednesday even ing at wesley church feb 28 we hope there will be several taking up this contest the final will be held at king city bargains in new
