officiat ed and bliss jean perry of lansing played the wedding music during the signing of the register mrs ivan mclaughlin sang o promise me the bride who was given in marriage by her father wore a floor length gown of white marquis ette- over taffeta her shoulder length veil fell from a halo of orange blossoms and she carried pink roses miss marion beach was her sisters bridesmaid wearing peach holi days this week owing to the illness of our teacher miss mccabe our sunday school attendance was low this week on account of the funeral of the late mrs robert ratcliff the community extend to the ratcliff family their sincere sympathy mr anthony hoover is furnishing cabbage for innumerable salads on city tables a sauer kraut factory would be an enterprising industry for this community perhaps in some future time dicksons hill will be known as the home of sauer kraut 8th line markham mrs henry smith of the 9th line accompanied by her son robt and daughter viisted on sunday at the jos kirk home miss evelyn byer who is attend ing normal in toronto was home over the weekend lrs lizzie widexnan has return ed home after spending a week with mr and mrs leonard hoover mr ryan of cannington was a caller on friends here last monday mr and mrs john harris of cedar grove visited with friends on this line on sunday anthony dike of mount albert was a recent visitor at the home of his brother percy dike mr mingays son we are pleased to learn is making satisfactory pro gress from the unfortunate acci dent he met with recently mr and lmiss annie huth and mrs l doner spent a few days at harry spangs home last week many from this line was in atten dance at the interesting travelogue given by the toll bros in the united church stouffville last fri day night there was a good crowd at mr isaac wambolds furniture sale last thursday and good prices were realized mr wambold has sold his property in north markham and will move to part of the house of his sen leslie lemonville mr and mrs george regan and their two daughters spent sunday afternoon with mr and mrs james cooney imrs william harper and son bruce were sunday visitors with mr and mrs elmer wells miss vera wells is working in lemon last saturday melville atha on tuesday evening october 3rd the members and friends of the altona christian church gave a sur prise party at the home of mr and mrs e lehman in honour of their newly wedded minister and his bride mr and mrs s h cock- burn mr and mrs morton and mr and mrs cockburn were invited for tea and later in the evening more than 50 friends gathered and all spent a oclock when jean helen eldest daughter of mr and mrs g a kerswill of markham township became the bride of george gordon younger son of mrs james chadwick and the late mr chadwick of toronto the bride was attired in a suit of navy blue tricotine and accessories to match and carrying a bouquet of briar cliff roses entered the church on the arm of her father to the strains of the wedding march played by miss jennie kerswill of toronto miss doris kerswill sister of the bride acted as bridesmaid and wore a dress of pings blue crepe with rust accessories and car ried a bouquet of talisman roses the groomsman was mr george a chadwick the ceremony was con ducted by the rev a j orr pas tor of the church which had been beautifully decorated with flowers and autumn leaves by the ladies of the congregation after the cerem- only the wedding party returned to the home of the br de where a dain ty supper was served the happy couple later leaving for a motor trip on their return they will live was summoned to the hall farm on the 7th concession north of the ball antrae sideroad where the barn and the seasons crop was destroyed it is believed the blaze started in the mow fortunately the live stock was all out but the crop not yet threshed went up in a few minutes there was no insurance on the con tents andrews fire truck rushed over and started in just as all other water supply wa gone
