created at that town on monday night june 26 went on another rampage tuesday night this time the fracas occurred at port perry and as a result he appeared be fore magistrate f s ebbs in oshawa on a charge of resist ing a police officer he was re manded in custody until july 13 when a further remand was made of one week bail was fixed at 2500 but through his counsel j p man- gar kc arrangements were nude that if a mental examin ation at the county jail shows him in need of treatment that he may be removed to whitby hospital nothing of the doctors ex amination could be learned the port perry incident started when dr wilson enter ed the office of dr g m rennie when informed that the doctor was not in he re fused to leave and became abusive chief of police roy st john was called and after a struggle succeeded in placing him under arrest he was tak en to the port perry lockup for the night where he continued to shout and create a disturbance until 100 am in the moring monday june 26 in and it is understood she is rather poorly george judd who is employ ed on the john scott farm spent sunday at his home in toronto we understand that albert lee has the honor of being the early bird with new potatoes this year digging his first on july 1st miss marj mothersill spent sunday at washago beach and collingwood mrs mothersills mother mrs wilson fails to improve in health mrs hamond and son ever ett accompanied by mr and mrs wm hill motored to wau- bashene on sunday mr and mrs hill stopping at leaskdale to visit the iatters siser miss ellen priest returned missionary from india was in town last week and while re newing old acquaintances call ed on mrs william bingham rev augustine and miss evans mr and mrs charles brown former residents also mr and mrs floyd jones of brooklin visited with mrs bushby one day last week we are sorry to report that the illness of alf mole forced him to be absent from his accustomed corner all last week he is residing at the howard mothersill home at present david nighswander is report ed to have been the first to cut a field of wheat in this area henry johnson is threshing alsike this week and reports a good yield the mission band held their regular meeting in the park on tuesday afternoon with jean farr and pearl pilkey taking charge of the program the meeting was held following the weekly baseball game between the sunshine girls and miss elva davis class mr and mrs roy ward and mr and mrs wm burkett are enjoying a few weeks vacation near kinmount mr burketts two nephews sons of randal burkett of moose jaw also accompanied their uncle lightning during the severe storm on thursday night struck the chimney on miss florence beelbys house knocking off a number of bricks and careen ed down knocking over stove pipes and doing some damage to the floor miss beelby who was alone in the house at the time was given a severe fright but escaped any bodily injury the tribune regrets an un intentional error which crept into this column last week when we reported that ernest c fetzer solicitor had been found guilty on a conversion charge the fact is the charge was dismissed and this paper regrets the inaccurate report which was accepted by us in good faith we trust that this explanation will fully apprize the public with the true facts of the outcome of the case which was so distorted around clare mont considerable road improve ment is underway in this dis trict at present both on the brock road and the old town- line paving is due to start this week on a mile stretch from brougham north and we under stand the county will also undertake to have a portion ofi the main street in claremont stretching east and west from the four corners the grader was busy on monday cutting back the shoulders on the brock road north of goodwood some of the big hills are being torn down this week while considerable grading and ditch ing is being done just east of thos sandersons farm and on the hill opposite col phillips property the funeral was held thurs day to the union cemetery here of mrs thomas gibbons clare monts oldest resident and highly esteemed and much loved citizen service was con ducted by rev augustine ass isted by rev harry wilson of whitevale pallbearers wei messrs thos paterson g m forsyth jas mccullough wm palmer evans ward and mor gan pugh mrs gibbons whose maiden name was elizabeth savage was born in dunstable england 94 years ago this october and came to this country in a sailing vessel at the age of eleven her husband thos gibbons predeceased her twenty years mrs gibbons was a faithful worker in the bap tist church all her life and sang in the village choir for over fifty years she is survived by one son wm t gibbons of toronto and four daughters mrs adam spears whitevale mrs walford
