widemans on sunday evening mr and mrs herb wideman entertained the families of les lie and will grove on christmas mr and mrs wes wideman and mr and mrs alex jones and family were at j siders in goimley melville mr and mrs charles conner and family spent christmas with her parents who are mr and mrs ralph wideman of richmond hill mrs wide- man returned to spend a few days with her daughter on christmas fair at stouffville and report the numerous exhibits as being of very fine quality and the 9 teams of horses shown being second only to those at the royal alvin wideman lome wide- man j l byer edwin byer and a company of others took a trip to arthur and other points last week where they staged a successful rabbit hunt bagging over six dozen some weighing ten pounds the teacher and pupils of mt joy school were at home to parents and friends in the schoolroom on wednesday after noon dec20 the occasion being the visit of santa claus to the school there was a large att- dance and a good program was given by the pupils consisting of recitations songs and dia logues the efficient manner in which they were given is in no small measure due to the efforts of the teacher miss mabel bar- ty at the conclusion of the pro gram santa was on hand to distribute presents from the large tree and this proved to be one of the preat delights of the afternoon mr and mrs albert robin son and daughter of toronto spent the christmas holiday at the home of his father a christmas service of song was held in wideman church last sunday night a choir of about thirty voices under the direction of les wambold assis ted singing christmas carols and anthems and added much to the interest of the service a business meeting of wide- man church was held on tues day afternoon as 1939 will have arrived be fore our next contribution we wish all a bright and prosper ous new year we learn that mr and mrs d a clendenihg over on the 9th line received a beautiful radio for christmas the gift of their son reuben oh joy no more lonely hours what a fine gift we expect a number from here will be taking in the special candlelight service to be held in the stouffville christian church saturday evening at 1115 a special program is being arranged by the pastor public meeting extends conbolances at the nomination meeting in vandorf hall for the township of whitchurch last friday afternoon a unanimous resolu tion was passed extending the sympathy of the ratepayers to deputy reeve jess cook in the death of mrs cook so recently mr isaac morton a former councillor fittingly introduced the question and every hand in the hall went up in sincere ac cord with the words of sym pathy extended to the absent deputy reeve mr cook wishes the tribune to extend to all the ratepayers of the township his heartfelt appreciation for the kindly gesture of goodwill accorded him in the manner in which it has been done and to wish one and all his sincere hope that the forthcoming year will be one of prosperity and happiness to them d o o d o the universal week of prayer will be observed in the vandorf santa claus seems to have singled out ross hood as des erving of extra recognition this and mrs grant mayor and year the concert at the united church was extra fine this year and the children were overjoy ed with the appearance of santa claus thos hood and family spent mr and mrs frank bram- mer
