on two miles of tarvia top south and east of uxbridge town governments have a reputation ot moving slowly but the speed with which the hepburn government moved last week when they took over the stouftville road and desig nated it a provincial highway is something of a recordbreaker not only did they take over tho stouff viue road from a point south of greenbank and east of uxbridge town right through to llneolnville but work started this tuesday morning on laying two miles ot tarvia top east and south of uxbridge and a mile and a half from good wood east to beyond the 4th con it all happened when the member for muskokaontario kelly visited queens park and interviewed the department of highways almost before the member reached his home again in the north necessary orders were issued for taking over of the road and on monday material was being placed on the job in pre paration for the new top jupp co are the contractors in view of the road to lincoln- ville through uxbridge becoming a highway the york county com mission will be forced to act quick ly in connection with topping the 10th concession as added tiaffic will be thrown on the 10th which is now in very bad condition in reference to the mpp s successful attempt to have this road taken over the uxbridge times last week said working with the local liberal organization mr j prank kelly imp p for muskokaontario inter viewed the department of highways ou tuesday last in the matter of a road connection with the result that the minister has recommended to the government the advisability of immediately taking over the road from stouffviue to goodwood and uxbridge across the 10th concession of reach to highway no 12 and proceeding to hard surface the same at once the road question has been a sore spot in the minds ot the residents ot uxbridge and township for some years and mr kelly who has had that in mind ever since his election is now able to report that he has at last interested the government to the extent that they have decided to take immediate action this will till a long felt want in the matter of roads in and out rf uxbridge and tho thanks of the people of uxbridge and district will be ex tended to mr kelly for his interest and attention to the matter cor 14ft high phenomenal growth is to be seen in many of the corn fields about stouffviue and as concrete evidence ot its height wo have in the tribune office a stock measuring 14 feet long grown on the farm of ross hood just north of the village in whitchurch it is of the early eureka variety from a broken vertebra which left the lowe- part of his body paralyzed it was realized from the first that his con dition from what would seem a simple fall off a load of hay was critical but as he bore up so brave ly and at times appeared to im prove hopes were entertained for his recovery in fact he was to have been brought home from the hos pital the week he died however he took a sudden turn for the worse and sank rapidly in a few days he was in his 54th year edwin wasbonn on the farm where he spent all his life just east of stouffviue he being a son of the late vanburen forsythe and his wife lydia barkey members of pioneer families in this district edwin married cora spang who survives him with an only daughter margaret a recent high school graduate two sisters also survive him being mrs clayton stouffer and mrs roland winn his surviving brothers are levi forsythe and grenville the lat ter living in chicago deceased was a member of the stouffviue united church and was a successful and highly respected farmer as a mark of his great popularity and of the sorrow the family are called on to bear the funeral on thursday last was one of the larg est seen in the district for som time interment was made in stouff viue cemetery the pall bearers being all nephews of the deceased rev levi atkinson and a former pastor rev thos laidlaw officiated at the service held at the farm home the died in 1930 and an only daughter miss hazel passed away in 1932 almost since the death of her husband mrs silvester had been confined to iter home suffering from heart troublp but in her active days was an ardent supported of the methodist church and a member of the various organ izations for women identified with the church there survives three sisters miss es mary and jessie lemon who lived
