well known in political circles in north york died sunday at her summer home at jacksons point fifteen years ago mrs lennox suffered a stroke and since that time has been a semiinvalid her toronto residence was at the st edmunds apartments 7 edmund avenue but it was her habit to spend the summers from june until september at the bungalow the summer home established by the late colonel lennox at jacksons point mrs lennox during her hus bands lifetime displayed the keenest interest in his political campaigns recently she was honor ed by the ladies conservative association of north york when she was made honorary president she was an anglican and before stricken with illness was a devoted church worker mrs lennox had endeared herself to the entire community of aurora where she and colonel lennox lived before the outbreak of the great war formerly louise e meeting she was born near barrie and was in her sixtyninth year colonel lennox died about three years ago mrs lennox had one son william sydney who was killed in a motor accident five years ago after exploring down into tne earth for a depth of 248 feet the effort of obtaining a deep well water supply at the stouffville reservoirs has been abandoned and the under taking looked on by reeve woluon as a flop while the outcome s disappointing indeed it will put at rest for all lime the idea that a deep well should be sunk on this property there has been a wide spread agitation for such a well for years and now this will end in the light of the facts at hand after making a halt in the under taking at 148 feet when the dill was in a very hard gravel almost like shale it was determined to pro ceed farther to satisfy those who be lieved they were about to obtain water now that it is proven that water is not obtainable only at the shallow levels of 25 and 50 feet efforts will likely be confined to this area there will be no more work carried on this year said reeve weldon to the tribune the reeve indicated that enough money had been spent to date probably 500 and the situation mu3t rest there perhaps next season further shallow wells will be added to the supply in the meantime there is no water shortage and the supply has been well maintained this summer death comes as sudden shock ringwood mr and mrs carlton baker and madaline toronto are spending a week with mr and mrs earl davis and wheat with a fairly good acreage for this district last fall by putting in 21 acres on his farm in markham he threshed last veek and the crop turned out nearly go bushels to the acre there were 1200 bushels of grain and according to frank stiver the sample was excellent this is an unusually large acrea ge for one of our farmers to sow to fall wheat but mr medd is a shrevd farmer who certainly did well this time fall wheat is selling to the local elevators at around 108 a bushel the opening sales of the 3eason were as high as 115 the range has been down to 105 current crop kepi rt the yield of fall wheat in ontario is estimitei at 26 bush els to the acre which is a good average but considerably below bat anticipated some weeks ago due to black rust in essex and kent counties and red rust in local sections as well as considerable light and shrunken grain caused by lodging and too rapid maturity cutting of spring grains is about completed in western ontario and has been general in eastern ontario although seeding was extremely late this season plentiful supplies of moisture brought the crops along very rapidly and in old ontario yields will range from average to above average for barley mixed grains and the main crop of oats very warm dry weather in late july and early in august caused late oats to ripen prematurely and rustwhich is prevalent in central and eastern ontario will lower the yield con siderably in northern ontario growth of spring grains was re tarded by drought from seeding time to july 10th since then however frequent heavy rains have been re ceived throughout northern ontario and a near average crop of spring grains may bo harvested fodder corn is about an average crop in most of tho province except parts of southwestern ontario where fields were damaged by too much moisture the early potato crop has been harvested and the second early crop is beginning to move the yield is good in southwestern ontario but disappointing in tho central portion of the province in many cases not over 75 bags to tho acre miss luella paisley is camping on georgian bay miss laura hill is visiting her brother in peterboro mrs storry and mrs tranmer were
