monday evenings drew splendid crowds considering it was given three times for there was a saturday afternoon matinee for the school children over forty local people contributed to the program which was varied good and not so good sensible and nonsensical the program was divided into fourteen radio flashes each flash represent ing a scene on the program it open ed with the customary endmen and fred mcnai as interlocutor and finished with bill blackburn pro prietor of the mansion house and a citizen of more than average avoirdupoise being presented as the blushing bride and young- bob abell undersize as groom the song hits and dances through out were especially appreciated al though the rush in which the cast for the different parts was gotten together did not permit or take into consideration the fitness of the per son for some of the numbers at least this was especially noticeable in the absence of good singers where they were most needed however the young folks were out to help the baseball boys and everybody did their best to make the show go over with a bang birrell bell and his family of four children provided several num bers on their stringed instruments while his two daughters entertain ed with a couple of pretty little dances in peasant style pete lowry of st thomas a stranger to stouffville came here to train the artists and direct the show and incidentally preaching in the local pulpit in anticipation of a call or invitation to become their pastor the members of the united church congregation will be called upon next tuesdcy evening to extend a call to a new minister to become pastor here after july 1st we understand that the manner in which the selection will be made from the men heard will be by ballot the official board members will bring before the meeting the names of certain ministers and recommend that from them a choice be made the members of the congregation present will then be called upon to exercise their ballot for possibly a first and second and third choice it will only be necessary for the one voting to write the name of the minister of their choice then a second and per haps a third choice and deposit the ballot in the box or other receptacle the idea of asking for a second and third choice is a safeguard against any possible chance of the first man chosen being already called else where or for any other reason he may not be able to accept in that event the second man would be in vited by this method the congrega tion will eliminate holding a second meeting it is pointed out that persons who fail to attend will have no choice in the matter hence a large member ship is being urged by the officials to be present next sunday rev l e atkinson of windermere a native of whit church township will preaoh in the evening and possibly at the morn ing service for which arrangements were being made as we go to press the eight ministers who will have been heard in connection with the call and the order in which
