christian church irvington nj and dean of congregational and christian church minister in new jersey died today in the presbyterian hospital the son of a clergyman dr hainer was born in newmarket indian fort 20 jobs o last week an experienced farm hand advertised in the tribune for position and up to saturday night we had received no less than twenty applications from farmers who were in need of a steady hand what is wrong that so many are classed as unemployed in york county when one small advertis- ment reveals so many positions available surely if so many jobs are available in this locality other sections are much the same no able bodied man need to seek long for a place of employment in the light of such authentic fact as is revealed in this instance all these applicants are concession of whitchurch on or near the murphy farm many relics have been found in the past on the property and some of them are now in the museum at toronto last sunday the scene of- the old fort was their silver wedding anniversary while the guests were assembling miss agues klinek rendered several piano selections prayer was offer ed by rev herbert lee chairman and all joined in singing blest be the tie that binds an excellent and delightful musical program be fitting the happy occasion was pre sented by several of stouffvilles most talented singers miss anne lehman acting as accompanist wealth of experience kept the bride and groom in constant remembrance of the occasion to the strains of the wedding march the winsome bride very charmingly attired in the wedding gown of 1910 showing little indica tion of tho stress and strain of the intervening years and at her side the groom still light of step and wearing a kindly reminiscent smile proceeded slowly down the aisle to wards the spirit the growth of the congregation and the improvement of church premises for more efficient work on behalf of all present he extended sincerest congratulations and good wishes for many years to come mrs sanders then presented the large silver serving tray suitably engraved as the gift of the church responses from the groom and bride in turn were brief neat sincere expressions of their reac tions expressing the hope that future years would develop and maintain the finest christian re lationships and accepting the gift as a pledge to renewed service at this juncture an interesting coincidence was revealed rev robert young and his good wife lately returned to stouffville as permanent residents were also celebrating their wedding annivers ary in recognition of this happy union and of their reunion with the friends of their former pastorate this esteemed couple were invited to the front where mrs d c smith presented to the bride a large bouquet of gladioli mr young in a humorous but earnest reply voiced appreciation and announced his intention of taking an active part in the work of the local church upon completion of a period of rest tho ladies served a delightful of christ 55 years married david curtis dead a native of mongolia david curtis died in winnipeg on sept 16 in his 73rd year interment takes place at regina today thursday the late mr curtis farmed for many years in tho vicinity of stouffville and went west to enter mercantile business his wifo who was minnie imarch sister of fred march of bethcsda predeceased him some years there survive two daughters and one son also two brothers messrs robert curtis of stouffville and arthur of merlin and one sister miss ruth curtis of datonla beach florida mr and mrs sam p foote bethesda observed their 55th wedding anniversary on sept 8th at their comfortable home on the 5th of whitchurch both mr and mrs foote are enjoying very good health and tho passing years have not in the least dimmed their inter est in the wide circle of friendships which they havo woven around them mr and mrs foote were married in the town of uxbridge lived at princo albert for a time then moved to the 5th concession of whitchurch mrs footo was the former laura banbury few citizens of whitchurch are more widely known than tho gonial sp whose advice is so frequent ly sought for his extensive muni cipal experience registered 95 in the shade that day as the result of a stroke suffered about a week previously mrs sarah stouffer passed away at her home in cookstown on september 3rd in her 75th year the late mrs stouffer whose maiden name was sarah barkey was born in stouffville where some fiftytwo years ago sho married aaron stouffer who predeceased her over forty years for tho past fourteen years she has resided in cookstown sho was formerly a member of stouffville baptist church and latterly an actlvo worker in ebenezer wms of a rather quiet disposition she was a fond and loving mother she leaves to mourn her loss two sons and one daughter clarence at fleet alta willis of mount dennis and mrs c cook ida of west gwilllmbury also one brother john barkey at stouffville a short service was held at
