election date may be changed set for december 7 south ontario ccf has young candidate locust hill lady ran close second william e noble proprietor of nobles tire and radiator shop osliawa was last week nominated as the ccf candidate tor the riding of ontario south to contest the polls at the forthcoming federal election at a nomination meeting held in osliawa the club rooms were filled to capacity with a large and enthusi astic number of members from all parts of the riding with f m mclellan president or the club in the chair the nomination was by ballot and the following names were placed on the slate wm e noble osliawa i m da foe osliawa james owens port perry mrs andrew glen locust mill robert stewart osliawa two ballots required mrs glen and messrs imclellan and stewart withdrew their names leaving the contest to noble datoe and owens on the first ballot mr owens was just three votes under the next lowest candidate and on the second ballot mr noble had a majority of 9 over mr dafoe who on a motion made it unanimous for the successful candidate mr noble is n young man just over 30 years of age married and has a family of four children he is president of the ccyjm been and ever shall be the great religious camp which opened last thursday for a ten day session in memorial park stouffville came to its real height on sunday when 5000 people heard the gospel declared in the old fashioned way by ilhe uev frank e arthur of chicago illinois the preaching services are being held in the arena on the grounds and provides unlimited accom modation for a camp of this magni tude twentylive hundred people were accommodated sunday evening and more could have been taken care of services are held three times daily for the public with special meetings arranged at other hours the magnet of the whole camp of course must be the evangelist and the mennonite conference appears to have sensed this fact when the choose rev frank e arthur as the evangelist on sun day he preached three sermons and again monday gave the missionary address and is carrying on every evening next sunday will be another big day pastor detroit church rev mr arthur contrary to what many think is not a travelling evangelist entirely for he is pastor of a large church in detroit known as the holiness association tabernacle and its former pastor was the great paul reese powerful preacher and known to thousands over the air mr arthur at one time was dean of the evangelistic institute in chicago where young men from the ontario mennonite held took their bible course such men as percy lehman harold browii henry good and possibly others known to many readers passed under the instruc tion of the then dean arthur he is given leave of absence from his detroit church for the summer ing although his next engagement to have been in kansas is sudden ly cancelled due to a coal strike the field where he was to wage war on sin is now waging war in a material way for it is ply- many families are now under canvas coming from all parts of the mennonite jurisdiction for this part of ontario breezersaboutthe flower show the local horticultural society are holding their annual fower show on august 15 and 10 we would like each member to at least put in one exhibit and as many more as possible we want a bigger display than ever this year exhibits may be placed wednes municipal election held in stouffville the vote may j be taken on the first monday in january which date has been observed hero since the village was incorporated the statues permit elections to be
