the hydro this announcement settled all tho speculations which preceded the meeting regarding the new candi dates immediate future association members from all over the riding discussed the probable fate of cap tain breuls whom they all apparent ly knew would be nominated the former president ot the asso ciation dr george lockhart jail farm physician was nominated j e nesbitt chairman or the meeting and successor to dr lockhart as president of the association an nounced that the increaing press of professional duties had made it impossible for the doctor to accept nomination and had resulted in the necessity of dr lockhart resigning as president of the association an office held by him for almost 25 years consequently said mr nesbitt this left only captain breuls news is surprise the news of dr lockharts resig nation came as a surprise to the members mr nesbitt revealed that the first intimation had come to him in a telephone conversation with dr lockhart just prior to the meet ing the general opinion was that dr lockhart a lifelong conserva tive and a government employee had by resigning the presidency severed his connection with the association new officers were elected to the executive of the association it was stated by mr nesbitt that many members of the association thought there should be a complete reorgan ization ot tho body that all dead wood should be cleaned out and new life injected in its place the only vacancies in the executive were president and secretary the majority is always right declared mr nesbitt the people of this association should decide whe ther we should have a complete re organization and elect an entirely new executive or simply elect officers to fill the two vacancies j o little deputy reeve of new market made a motion that only the two offices be filled this was supported unanimously a nominat ing committee was appointed which nominated mr nesbitt as president and arley armstrong of newmarket as secretary these and eight addi tions to the executive committee were supported unanimously by tho association captain breuls was nominated by robert miller of stouffville veteran conservative worker in the riding the nomination was seconded by frank culverwell of sutton you have done me the honor of selecting me as a successor to tho late col lennox said captain breuls no man nominated could quite fill col lennoxs 10 months there will ho no federal elec tion before 1935 and no matter what is tho result of his byelection it will have no effect on the general election if a liberal candidate is put in tho field it will be more or loss a personal fight between him and mo they cannot turn out the government trustees named to promote the local hospital dear sirs as the brierbush hospital in stouffvllle has now have seen thus far i have visited seven churches in france and switzerland and have spoken seven times in french by our standards the churches are all small but so far as i have been able to discover are strong in the quality of their membership the pastors i have met are good men all thoroughly evangelical and of spiritual power mir dubarry of nimes and mr g guyot of paris the latter pastor and editor strike me as men of un usual ability who are gladly sacri ficing themselves in a small work for the sake of the future of the baptist work in france and switzerland the monthly lien fraternal is written in tho best french and the articles are always well chosen i have read it for several years it goes into almost every home in the churches and is actually a paying proposition the surplus going to the support of the work in the needy churches an unusual feature of almost all the churches is the number ot lay preachers available to carry on work in the annexes or branches as we would
