bers in song dont forgot our supper to be rushed to the wellesley hospital toronto may 22 from his late residence at cedar grove thos william dawson died suddenly on tuesday the 23rd at the untimely age of 23 years the unfortunate man was the eldest son of mr and mrs thos dawson living south of goodwood on the h roach farm he was en gaged at cedar grove on the well known lapp farm and after carry ing on his days work on the mon day was rushed to the hospital at 11 oclock at night but never came out of tho anaesthetic passing away a few hours later besides his parents tho young man is survived by one brother robert at home a sister edith in markham and by his young wife harriett ethel maye daughter of mr and mrs wni maye of the 4th concession uxbridge they had only been married since last september since going to markham mr and sirs dawson attended the united church and the largely attended funeral to goodwood icemetery on victoria day took place from his late home rev mr homer of ux bridge and rev f smith cedar grove conducted the services tho sad occurrence cast a great gloom over the home neighborhood where sincere sympathy goes out to the bereaved family and wife noted of gormley is at present engaged in a two weeks revival effort in vaughan township with bishop alvin winger presiding we extend our sympathy to mr and mrs gordon lehman in the loss of their six months old baby lost week the funeral service was held at the home on thursday afternoon with rev alvin winger in charge assisted by rev t s doner burial took place in heise hill cemetery a very pretty wedding took place on wednesday afternoon may 17th at 3 oclock at the home of the brides parents mr and mrs asa sider when their youngest daught er lydia became the bride of mr fred hill of gormley rev alvin winger performed the ceremony the bride was attended by her niece miss blanche dewsbury of richmond hill while mr sheldon walker supported the groom following the ceremony a dainty wedding supper was served to twentyfour guests by three young nieces of the bride misses irene timbers of stouffville clare wideman and iteta sider of gormley later in the evening the happy coupleleft by motor amid showers of rice confetti and good wishes for a short honey moon trip to toronto and whitby they will reside with the brides parents on thursday evening thecliarivarl band visited the newly married pair and after the usual noise and ttn they presented the bride and groom with a beautiful set of stainless steel knives and forks on saturday evening tho many couple united church people and others will regret to learn of the death of rev dr pedley a noted congre gational preacher in the days be fore union and although a retired minister still a much sought for man in the pulpits throughout the district dr pedley preached anni versary sermons in stouffville five years ago and despite his aged con dition at that time was full of wit and humor he delivered a lecture in the melville church only a few years ago when his humorous say ings and witty remarks delighted his hearers dr pedley was buried at georgetown on friday last he is survived by his widow and an only son recalling how dr pedley loved fun and laughter and was one of the wittiest preachers rev mr richards quoted one of his sayings i i have made it a practice to put all my worrries down in tho bottom of my heart then sit on the lid and smile that was his philosophy of life he always contended that jesus was the happiest man of his day and pedley was the happiest preacher said mr richards one of dr podleys most famous lectures was on mr wiggs husband of mrs wiggs of the cabbage patch over and over again to great audiences i heard him tell how when mr wiggs died mrs wiggs for want of better things to say about her husband would dwell on his lovely handwriting recalled mr richards that was the heart of christianity to dr pedley to see the little bit of good which exists in everybody and lived alono on his small farm near box grove markham township was killed almost instantly a few min utes after midnight saturday when his buggy was struck by a motor car tho horse escaped unscathed from tho crash which wrecked the buggy and piled tho automobile in the ditch the car was driven by w a bur rows markham iroad scarboro and was coming south on tho markham road about half a milo south of malvern the buggy was headed north the elderly farm er returning from selling a load of produce at the toronto market police it is said are considering the possibility that the farmer was dozing as tho horse jogged slowly homewards the left front wheol of the car struck the left front wheol of the buggy tossing it into the ditch in tho effort to stop coupled with the impact of the crash the car swung into the same ditch behind the buggy and rolled on its side mr burrows escaping with slight in juries crawled from the car and ran to pull the badlyinjured man from tho ditch where he had been thrown from the buggy passing motorists stopped and near by farmers came to his assistance coroner dr c d farquharson of agincourt was summoned but tom linson was dead when he reached the scene the body was removed to an undertakers parlor in agincourt where dr farquharson ordered an autopsy an inquest will be held he announced later p c howard cramp of the scar boro police investigated the accident and burrows was not held chief constable draycott launched a fur ther investigation little is known about tomlinson by his neighbors other than that he had resided on his farm for some time prof frank underbill will speak here in company with capt philpott a big crowd promises to bo in stouffville next monday evening to hear prominent speakers for the iccf expound their program from tho platform in ratcliffs hall capt elmoro philpott and prof frank h underbill will be the speakers capt philpott is in tho public eye theso days in connection with the new party while prof underbill an old stouffville boy is a writer of international reputation on world events frank underbill as he is known to school associates had a notable courso at oxford the university was so impressed with his brilliancy that they urgod him to take a further conrse in polity oftoring him as on inducement to finance the year with out cost to him oxford pronounced professor underbill tho brightest man ovor sent from canada his servico throughout the war was outstanding ho was selected to write and did write tho history of tho canadian expeditionary forces in tho war for the oxford press he entered upon his career as a teacher at tho university of saskatchewan with full professorship and he is now professor of history at the university of toronto as a native of stouffvillo prof underbill will bo
