methods in handling the fair was so interesting to me that i hied myself down to their annual meeting january 16th and became a qualified member and vot ed at random and helped to pass this meeting into the history of the past and with it i learned went some directors of long standing al so some past presidents etc judg ing from the number present i pre sumed there must have been con siderable truth in these communi cations as a rule there is not very much interest shown in this sort of meeting but interest was not lack ing here as there were contestants aplenty for every office except one past presidents and past directors were nominated for reinstatement but the trend of the voting was apparently for new and mostly younger men this is as it should be the younger men should if so in clined have the chance of getting in to public affairs and oiilces for from them come the later men of our country to handle the greater problems of perhaps our province and dominion but if once elected ambition seems to be to stay there is not giving younger men a chance to follow the course of their learn ings and i believe very efficient men are lost to public benefit just for the need of a chance to be in and develop when young the older or perhaps well termed senate men are to their limit of develop ment and have practically no future for broadening and become only a hindrance to oour younger genera tion to keep them from getting up the ladder to whatever height they may attain however the vot ing as it progressed seemed to pro duce some smiles some disappoint ment and some surprises from conversation with some town resi dents they considered it quite a shaking up in closing i might say what seems strange to many is the crowds the fair has had the weather for them and the prosper ous times which aro gone yet in one year of depression seem to be in not too good a financial position wishing the board of directors every success witli our county fall fair i am a member
