a mystery sproule badgero the home of mr and mrs w p badgeroverniilion alberta was the scene of a lovely wedding on tues day oct 28th at high noon when the rev n a boyd solemnized the marriage of their eldest daughter ruby eileen to mr orbin de vernet sproule of loydminster sask only son of mr and mrs c e sproule of imtinnville the disastrous fire ou the richard smalley farm in which the barn was totally destroyed now looms as a mystery tire also it was at first reported that the kitchener rural construction co had been responsible for the blaze by setting fire to some straw with a blow torch during the course of their work investigation however now shows that there was not a blow torch at work on thejob only three men were present when the fire was uotiued mr chas neudick of stouffville who is em ployed by the company was working in the cellar of the house- while francis judd a former pupil of stouffville continuation school was working on the line between the house and barn and first saw the blaze and gave the alarm while a third man was engaged in the granary and wasnt aware of the fire until warned by one ot the other workmen it was evident that the fire start ed in the upper regions of the building but no one can shed any light on the cause while at work in a barn it is a rue that the men never smoke so the whole thing adds one more mystery tothe long list of barn fires in ontario this last tew months mr smalley has since purchased a new steel barn and has contract ed with the kitchener rural con struction co to equip it for electric service hunters have who expect to have added trackage provided shortly to take care of their extensive shipments tho build ing will houso three quarters of a million fish as well as providing spajco for other lines ot the companys business about 20 men will bo employed when tho company gets well undorway the local deer hunters all return ed home for tho most part tired and footsore a few days before the season actually came to a close stories that deer were roaming like great flocks of sheep doesnt seem to have proven the case as the local sportsmen found them very scarce and as their luck was not good when they did sight the fleet footed animals there will not be enough venison to go round to all their friends in the club the stouftville hunt club pitched their rami as usual in the district out from ardbeg they were twelve number but arrived back on saturday with only three deer geo storey walter ward and delbert holden did the shooting that brought down the only game they got it was left however to william reesor to provide a bear story and ho did it nicely when he landed a fat black bear just out of its cub years mr reesor came upon it suddenly and shot the animal as it ran through the bush the bear did not appear to see him although there was but a few yards between them another hunting party which ran into hard luck this season was composed of robert and don rat- cliff james ratcliff chas atkinson clarence atkinson and clarence bolender norman claughton and arthur paisley this double quartette hunted in the wilds of haliburton county setting camp at a plaice called crooked lake they tried the still hunt which means they had no dogs their efforts were rewarded with but one deer but the stouffville merchant says the bush tramp was worth while and ho certainly looks better for the holiday it remained for the stouffville and sutton hunting society to demon strate tltat deer are really plentiful if you go the right place for them this joint organization is composed of twelve hunters and they brought home twelve deer the full allot ment in addition they bad their portion for use in camp which accounted lor two more it is an interesting fact that this club has never gone north and returned with out their full quota this year they were the first to return home as they had their full allotment after seven days hunting their jumping off place is a railway siding called zebra 20 miles north ot parry sound a five mile journey is mado by wagon then a five mile or more trudge to icamp but its worth while getting back into tiie great forest land where few hunters go as is evidenced by the success ot this camp those who compose the party are sam armtrong harvey baker frank baker ralph flint and sandy stewart the remainer being sutton men since the above was written 15 hunters of the cedar grove club have returned witli 15 door and one bear clayt tarr one of this party shot a red deor said to be tho only one got this season among the churches presbyterian church
