on the sth concession of whit church when four holdup men stop ped the car in a swamp driven by ed ferguson and under the point of a revolver relieved him of 7 all the money ferguson had on his person after decemher 15tn the council discussed the advis ability of maintaining the rate at 31 mills where it stood last year which would ensure a larger surplus at the end of the year but the by law passed without opposition to re duce the rate and go easy on expen ditures for the balance of this year in hopes of maintaining a proper bank balance as only one tender had been filed for a heating system in the munici pal hall it was left over and the time extended to next meeting no further extension will be granted after that miss eckardt applied to have a tree cut and mrs mowder and geo simpson each requested a street light near their properties no action was taken for more light but the street committee will look into the matter of tree cutting councillor dowswell reported that 945
