monday eveningwhen they dropped a game to markham in the sbuthern village after twenty minutes overtime play the final score was 52 by coming out vic torious markham tied stouffville for group honors and they were ordered to play off the tie with home-and- home games this wednesday evening in stouffville and friday evening in markham with goals to count on the round mondays gaone at markham was a hairraiser for the seven hun dred or more fans 700 paid admis sions it was impossible to pre dict the winners unjil the last ten minutes of overtime when mcdonald on the markham forward beat the stouffville goalie with a fairly easy shot delivered from outside the de fense line after this stouffville broke up their own defense in an effort to even the score which they failed to do instead allowing mark- halm to break away and score on an open net twice the game was vir tually over after the tie was broken the first peritod was scorelessand the play evenly divided the tactics on both sides spelled caution no really fast hockey being exhibited the seconaf period saw more life in the gaane stewart starting the scoring by notching a counter for markham in a brilliant end bo end rush that no one was able to stop and this first netbulger of the even ing sort of started things a few minutes later harold lewis counted for stouffville but before the period ended williamson for markham broke the tie score 21 for mark ham the best hockey of the evening was staged in the final period of the regular game lewis again counted for stouffville tieing the score which remained sewed up to the end at 2 all neither side was able to score in the first fixture of overtime and both teams were manifestly growing tied it was predicted that the team to land the rubber in the nets first would win the game and so it was as told in previous paragraph allan hoover in goal for stouff ville made many good stops clear ing tho puck on a couple of occasions when markham broke through the last defence man but as is often so the easiest one beat him fred todd and ken rcesor on the defence were hard to beat althlough they did not give the extra assistance to the for ward line that they sometimes do lewis garland lehman and earl clendennlng on the forward line out- piived their cheekmates but ste wart and williamson on themark- ham defence were quite formidable and did great work in htolding stouff ville out frank ross and herb simpson as subs were effective but the team as a whole so evenly bal ances markham that a big struggle is necessary to declare winners whenever they meet
