here on the g30 am trin next morning in order to bring chautauqua to stouffville forty of our citizens guar anteed the company that tickets would be sold to the amount of 750 and as this amount was not disposed of each grrntor will have to nut up about 250 in order to complete the contract while the program carried some weak spots there were several en tertainments of merit and those that delighted the audiences most were the two plays one on thursday and one saturday evening and the lec ture of hon frank church on canada at the cross roads in addition to this the performance on the closing evening was a treat to lovers of music as were the kiser sisters on friday just before coming into canada this year on the third week in july the chautauqua circuits in parts of michigan suffered severe loss through having part of their tent equipment destroyed by hurricane and this shortage gave cause for dissatisfaction to chautauqua fans quite a nunvher of young men se cured free admission on saturday evening by sneaking into the seats at the side of the tent which was not properly protected against this sort of person there is no question hut that chautauqua carries great
