hours illness the deceased whose maiden name was ruth amanda chadwick and was in her 65th year had been in rather poor health for some time but was always able to attend to her household duties until saturday when she was seized with an attack of accute indigestion accompanied by intense pain she gradually be came worse until s oclock sunday morning when death brought relief to her great suffering she was born in whitchurch township and for the past 25 years has resided in pickering township she is survived by a sorrowing husband and two sons russell of brougham and ross of toronto citizens of newmarket says the expressherald awoke on wednes day morning to discover that they were without water to perform their morning operations of washing faces and scrubbing of necks and hands they thought that the intense sold had frozen water pipes in their homes and the majority of them set out to thaw the pipes after work ing hours they discovered that the brealc was in a town main and the whole town was without water sup ply that section of the town where the break took place was shut off and the waterworks department started refilling the reservoirs it was not until well on in the after noon before the citizens were able to secure a supply and on many cases during the interval of doing without water pipes were frozen in the homes and the plumbers had a busy day thawing them out to the public school children however it was a day of unalloyed joy besides providing a plausible excuse for the flimination of any neck and ear operations with soap the boys and iris were allowed a holiday from school no factories shut down however although work was handi capped the greatest sufferers were those whose homes are heated by the hot water system and who dur ing the time of the shutoff were compelled to shiver while they thirsted tggttikjrrtr r personal notes mrs b h miller was in toronto last week miss gladys mowder was here from toronto over sunday miss vandolf of toronto on the new site at the corner of obrien avenue and main street on a lot which has been vacant for many years back this property has been in the hands of the baptists for some time but it was felt that
