august 4th in york county when a poultry expert will be in attendance and after a lecture on culling will take up some of the troubles of poultry raisers on thursday august 7th at 7 pm the years ago and since that time as a brilliant soloist has ield the highest posi tions in many worldfamous musical organizations when stouffville band was first organized captain slatter gave a great deal or assistance- in training and hts alo been to stpuff- ville a numher of times to lead the band in their practice presentation to rev and mrs o k coulter on monday july 21st rev and mrs geoe coulter celebrated their crystal wedding anniversary and on the following wednesday evening a number of their friends gathered at the parsonage on church street and presented them with a cut glass rose bowl and salt pepper and mustard cet mrs w j thompson in a very capable manner extended congratu lations to the bride and groom of fifteen years ago while mrs warrl- ner made the presentation mrs coulter spoke briefly in thanking the friends tor their kindness and mr coulter expressed slncerest ap preciation for the thoughtfulness ot the gift rev mr tottea of shannonvllle who is visiting mrs warriner mrs tottons mother was present and gave a few remarks re freshments were served and a most enjoyable evening spent 40000 harvesters avill be wanted for the west at least 40000 harvesters will be required to garner the western can ada wheat crop this season accord ing to information received at gen eral headquarters ot the canadian national railways of this number approximately 20000 will have to be secured from eastern canada it being thought that the remainder can he supplied by the three prairie provinces and british columbia this information is the outcome of a conference held at winnipeg be tween representatives of canadian national railways provincial and federal governments and the labor boards it was also brought out at this meeting that harvesting is ex pected to commence in manitoba about august 20th and in saskatche wan and alberta about august 25th a further meeting is to be held about august 2nd in winnipeg to de cide upon the date when the special rail fares for harvesters will go into effect this date will be governed by the time when the farmers are prepared to accept harvesters re presentatives of canadian national railways were asked by the govern ment officials to state how well they were prepared to handle this traffic and they were told that the national railway system has approximatelv 400 cars ot the very latest type of colonist equipment held
