been interviewed by the newspapers at his farm home north of unionville mrclary is a young man being only 33 years of age his family on both sides have been residents of york for more than a hundred years the mother being jane reynolds whose family lived near locust hill im out against toryism the first plank of my platform is that i am against bossism ot all kinds in the rest of my platform i conservatives held in toronto on saturday hon geo s henry mp p was unanimously chosen as the candidate for the riding agafn this election it looks like a threecor nered fight between the three main p61itical parties harry clary the liberal candi date in east york riding has been described as living at agincourt whereas mr clary lives at locust hill on the 10th of markham last january he contested the reeveship of markham against reeve george padget a serious attempt is being made in theaorthwest to reduce the acre age of wheat in order to increase the price compared with some of the proposals put forward in con gress for improving the farmers condition the plan looks good it has however the serious defect that it will not work there is no denying the fact that the farmers are not getting their share of the countrys prosperity farm pro ducts have been increasing in- price somewhat but other prices have in creased still faster including cot ton in the price index of agricun tural products the purchasing pow er of the farm dollar is still under 70 cents it is considerably less for the farmers who raise the wheat and corn but no cotton but this great need does not clear the way for the success of an unworkable plan this is a big country and it would be impossible to get even a majority of the wheat growers to agree to such a plan and stick to it those who did not agree would be sure to increase their acreagemore than offsetting the production of others wall street journal in spite of the dreary rainy day the 33rd annual convention of ux- bridge district w m s
