In I804, Christian Reesor and his wife. Fanny Reiff. left Pennsylvania and settled on Concession IO in Markham Township. A hundred years later. their descendants hosted a family picnic on Christian Reesor's homestead at Locust Hill. Close to 1.500 family members attended and the reunion tradition was born. Reesor family celebrates bicentennial On the morning of July 3, a horse drawn wagon train will wend its way on an ll km. trek from the Reesor Gates, adiacent to Christian Reesor's old homestead, to the fairgrounds, to commemorate the original six-week ioumey from Pennsylvania in five Conestoga wagons. This year's celebration includesthe Reesor Homecoming on the evening of July 2, a full day of events and activities at Markham Fairgroundsluly 3 and a settlers' church service on the banks of the Rouge River on July 4. 2,300 cousins including Amos Reesor of Stouffville, who was the oldest male cousin in attendance.
