Whltchurch-Stouffville Museum The museum covers Heritage event ‘opens doors’ to past By Patricia Robinson Seecial to Stouï¬villï¬eiThis Month Discover Whitchurch-Stouflville Saturday, June 5th four acres and includes five historic structures: Bogarttown Schoolhouse and the Brown House, both built in I857; the pioneer log cabin, built circa 1850; the barn, and Vandorf Public School, built in l870 with renovations in I905. The museum contains approximately H.000 arti- facts related to the histori- cal development of our community, providing a fascinating look at life in of our downtown and visi- tors will get a rare glimpse inside the structure during Doors Open. The old town hall was constructed in I896 and I967, but the clock tower remains a deï¬ning feature For Doors Open, the museum will give a special behind-theâ€"scenes tour of areas which are normally off limits to the public, along with an exhibit and demonstration of artifact cataloguing and conserva- tion practices. Also tour the - museum's restored heritage buildings. Clock Tower and , Old Town Hall in [889, Nathan Forsyth built a ï¬re hall on the pre- sent site of the clock tower. The ï¬re hall was also used as a library, a jail and a venue for council meet- ings. The original wooden hose tower was replaced by the square brick clock tower in I93 I . The building itself was demolished in the former Whitchurcf Township.
