LSF is also integrating with another program called ‘ Education tor Sustainable DeveiOpMent (ESD). This proâ€" ‘ gum is locueed on educating people on how to make deciâ€" sione that ensure our environment will be sale. ESD wit use strategies like teaching the skills people can take with them. locusing on things that are close to them and seem more urgent; using a handsâ€"on attitude. These programs are not here to tell people what to do, but are designed to teach the knowledge and the skills tor making sustainable Ten is working at the school to be a consultant who can help and intorm stall and students at these initiatives. She will be working with Ms. Onisto on these two protects tor a number at years. As the new 8058 building is being made. the LSF group will be making sure the building design conâ€" torms to the sustainable school guidelines. Things like, having carpeting made without toxins and synthetics; keep- ing a stricter recycling program; and buying gym unitorms made locally and naturally are some of the changes that will be implemented. To conï¬rm that this plan is working properly surveys and regular school checkvups will be car- ned out. The idea 01 a sustainab le school is to create a healthier envnronment tor the community. As a model school. 5088 Will allow visitors to come in and tour the school to how the LSF program is working. We hope this will encourage more schools to become sustainable and look forward to our new and sustainable school. This invaluable information and insight has trained us well and will be used and shared here at 8.0.8.5. at Denison High as well as all other partic- ipating schools in North America We will be implementing the same character strategies and techniques learned here. Some ot the speakers included: Dr. I Chasnott (informed us about fetal alcohol syndrome and other similar neu- ral deficiencies): Mr. A Grifï¬n. (lite skills and demo cratic values); Whisperer L. C a | d w e I l (Demonstrated trust and respect and how to earn it): Ms. M. Roybal (gave . invaluable insight about conâ€" flict resolution and mediation) and 'Wonderdog' and his band (performed. supporting character enrichment in gen- eral). There were many more speakers over the three-day period and they were extremely impacting and insighttul. mak- ing this endeavour like no other characâ€" ter enrichment. The often put tonh was outstanding and the knowledge that was shared will not be wasted. By Corey Knecht Stouï¬w'lk
