NEWS Ali RAzA aliraza@yrmg.com Town redoing roads in heritage district The town of WhitchurchStouffville will begin a road reconstruction of Burkholder Street, Russel Avenue and Blake Street. All three roads are within the town's designated heritage district. Reconstruction includes updating the streetscape to make it consistent with heritage considerations and fully repaving the streets after installation of underground utilities and curbs. Existing sanitary sewers on all three streets will be replaced. A water main will also be replaced and a new storm sewer will be added on Burkholder Street and Russel Avenue. New sidewalks will be considered. Blake Street is under consideration to be made a southbound one-way street. A bike lane may also be added. The decision came after a public information centre held on Nov. 16 that discussed the reconstruction with residents. Earlier this month, a resident complained to the Sun-Tribune about the road conditions of Blake Street and Burkholder Street as construction on the PACE on Main condominium has increased traffic on roads near Lloyd Street as it is closed for a year. Roads will be closed except for local traffic and emergency vehicles. Construction notice will be given two weeks in advance, the town says. Weekly waste collection will be unaffected. The town is still receiving comments from residents until Wednesday, Nov. 30. 905-852-6711 Call Rick Blair AREA RUGS CARPET UPHOLSTERY Serving Brock and Surrounding Areas
