She'll continue her associations here, only in different capacities. A native of Singapore and the daughter of gifted parents, Eugenie immigrated to Canada in 1981. Although educated in her native country where her father served as a university professor, she maintained the desire to establish a new life in a new land, a decision of which she's never been sorry. Her link with Singapore remains, however. One brother and one sister still live there. A second sister resides in Orangeville. Eugenie admits it was Stouffville's Country Market that attracted her to town. Although living in North York, she leased a booth here where she displayed yet another talent, flowers made from bread dough. The uniqueness of the exhibit attracted much attention. Five years later, she moved to a property near Hwy. 48 and Aurora Road. It's with mixed emotions Eugenie has given up leadership of a St. Mark choral group known as `Voices of Glory'. With membership ranging in age from eight to 60, this choir has participated not only at 9 a.m. Mass but also candlelight memorials at the O'Neill Funeral Home; the Strawberry Festival; seniors residences and Christmas pageants. Singularly, Eugenie has given generously of her time at Stouffville Creek, Bloomington Cove, Parkview Home and Buckingham Manor. For the past six years, she's also played for the processional at Stouffville's Student Music Scholarship Concert. Despite her new responsibilities at Church of the Good Shepherd, Eugenie will continue to serve as a co-director of the weekly Share the Music program at Wesley. She will also assist with the Christmas pageant at St. Mark. In addition to organ and piano, Eugenie is an accomplished guitarist. She's also utilized her vocal talent at countless weddings and funerals. No conversation with Eugenie is complete without involving daughter Kiana, the love of her life. A Grade 9 student enrolled in the York Regional Arts Program at St. Elizabeth Catholic High School, Thornhill, Kiana, 14, has inherited a musical talent celebrated by her mother. She was the recipient of St. Brendan's vocalist of the year award in addition to a community service medal. She currently sings in the Church of the Good Shepherd choir. "I'm so proud," Eugenie enthuses. Although now spending much of her time in new surroundings, Eugenie gives no thought to leaving town.
