Whitchurch-Stouffville is holding an electronics waste recycling event on Saturday, Oct. 15, offering residents a chance to bring their old or unwanted items to town hall for collection. Electronics are banned from curbside collection, prompting residents to either go to one of York Region's waste depots or to special collection events. Due to several components in electronic scrap, such as lead, cadmium or other heavy metals, e-waste is a hazard if not recycled properly. Electronics accepted at town hall include computers, laptops, keyboards, mice, computer monitors, printers, audio equipment, cartridges, digital cameras, cellphones, fax machines and televisions.
