Food bank needs more groceries for new location By Ali Raza 23 | Stouffville Sun-Tribune | Thursday, September 29, 2016 aliRaza@yrmg.com The Whitchurch-Stouffville Food Bank is holding its annual Thanksgiving food drive, despite a delay in the opening of its new location. Clients continue to be serviced from the old location at Churchill Baptist Church on 15336 Ninth Line. The new location is anticipated to be complete for service sometime this fall. Food bank officials say it requires dona- tions of food and funds for continuing support it needs for the winter months. Donations may be dropped off at any community grocer and at Whitchurch-Stouffville's two fire halls. "Whitchurch-Stouffville's generous community is a strong supporter of our efforts and we welcome their continuing donations," said food bank coordinator Marion Wells. "When we move, we anticipate that the in-town location and convenience for many more people requiring support will result in attendance growth of 50 per cent or more." At the new location on Ringwood Drive, one of the two planned units is available to collect, sort and store new donations, but since construction is still ongoing, the food bank is unable to greet and support clientele. All other services still continue to operate from the Churchill Baptist Church, just north of Musselman's Lake. "As we prepare for the winter demands, our community spirit of donations and celebrating Thanksgiving is welcome," Wells added. The food bank has specific needs for powdered drinks, canned items, coffee, jello, honey, cheese whiz, sugar, flour, hygiene products, peanut butter, kids juice boxes, school snacks, laundry detergent, dish soap and macaroni and cheese. The food bank cannot accept expired items. For more information, call 905-640-4704 Ballantrae Plaza Veterinary y Clini CliniC New Clients Always Welcome! We can make your living spaces look great!
