Council wants sidewalk clearing costs Whitchurch-Stouffville council deferred a decision to approve revised service level standards for winter maintenance of the town's sidewalks at a meeting last week. Councillor Rick Upton asked town staff for complete costs of sidewalk maintenance for 100 per cent of all sidewalks in the municipality. The motion passed and an estimate will be given to council in the 2017 budget. Councillor Rick Upton responded by saying "if you build it, they will come." The club currently plays two nights a week on a temporary field at Bethesda Sports Fields. According to the new policy, complainants will receive an acknowledgement letter, complaints will be held confidential and responses are to be delivered promptly. Complainants can review responses with the town. The new standards also apply to complaints from staff, which the report outlines as tackling cyberbullying, discrimination, harassment, intimidation, vexation and violence. Ali Raza Town considering cricket pitch With roughly 20 to 30 players registered, council is undecided on what level of service to provide the Stouffville Cricket Club. Councillors Maurice Smith and Hugo Kroon agreed that the construction of a cricket pitch would be justified if the number of participants increased.
