10 Stouffville Sun-Tribune | Thursday, April 7, 2016 | Council meetings now live online Can't make it to the next town council meeting? No worries, a live audio stream is now available. Anyone with a computer or mobile device will be able to listen to council meetings. Tuesday night's meeting was the first. Now live from the source residents can stream live audio from the town's website, townofws.ca/cmlivestream. If you miss the live stream, you can catch the audio recording online three business days after the meeting. Mayor Justin Altmann calls the live audio move an "evolution in our communications strategy." He hopes it will encourage the community to be more engaged with issues. The audio stream was tested and performs best using Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox web browsers. For Internet Explorer users, versions 10 or 11 are compatible. Older mobile devices may prove difficult to stream. Council special meetings and public meetings will not be streamed at this time until further notice. New rooms can be rented at municipal offices Town hall just got bigger. No, not additional employees, but a $1.2 million expansion was unveiled Tuesday. The new public multipurpose room, boardroom and offices will be available to rent. The addition of the rooms completes the building plan the town had in place for its municipal offices in the former Cook Canada building at 111 Sandiford Dr. The new rooms are at the rear of the building, which is also home to YorkWorks employment services and York Regional Police. New rooms offer the town the opportunity to rent out space to community user groups and other organizations that require meeting or program accommodation. The multipurpose room has a capacity for 60 people and can be used for anything from quiet meetings to receptions. Users will have public access to these rooms after hours.
