Three ex-Spirit teammates sign professional deals A trio of Stouffville Spirit graduates who were members of the 2011-12 team that captured the Ontario Junior Hockey League title and moved on to play collegiate hockey have taken their on-ice careers to the next level. Forward Christian Finch, who recently played with the University of Toronto Varsity Blues, signed a contract to play with the Alaska Aces of the East Coast Hockey League. Amassing eight goals and 23 assists in 28 games to lead the Varsity Blues in scoring this past season and named a second team Ontario University Athletics allstar, the 24-year-old Finch made an immediate contribution with the Anchorage, Alaska-based team. In his first five games with the Aces, Finch has two goals and one assist. Forward and Stouffville resident Chris Porter recently signed a deal with the Fayetteville FireAntz of the Southern Pro Hockey League. Serving as team captain in his senior year at American International College, the 24-year-old, sixfoot, three-inch, 215-pound forward had six goals and 10 assists in 39 games this past season. Stouffville resident Paul Geiger recently signed an amateur tryout agreement with the Albany Devils of the American Hockey League.
