This year it is on Monday, Feb. 15. So what is there for the whole family to do in Whitchurch-Stouffville? Willowgrove is hosting a day of outdoor activities that include wagon rides, snowshoeing, crazy carpeting, quinhzee building as well as a scavenger hunt on its 100-acre McCowan Road property. Some activities are weather dependant. There are also indoor activities such as curling, a hayloft play area, games room and crafts. The cost is $20 per family/car. The events run from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Food and drink are available for purchase. For more information, go to www.willowgrove.ca People will be able to sample fresh local maple syrup and other treats, as well as snowshoe in the park. There will also be activities in the heritage buildings. All activities are included in the admission price, which is $6 for adults, $4 for children (three to 12) or $16 for a family of up to four people. The museum is on Woodbine Avenue in the community of Vandorf. For more information, go to www. townofws.ca/en/explore/museum.asp?_ mid_=11144 MPP hosting free skate Helena Jaczek, MPP for Oak RidgesMarkham, hosts her ninth annual Family Day Skate at the Clippers Sports Complex, 120 Weldon Rd., from 1 to 3 p.m. The event is free. The second portion includes dancing. Participants will learn how and why people dance. Throughout the workshop, participants will play team-building games to reinforce what has been learned. The workshop is suitable for everyone six years of age and older. There is a maximum of 30 participants. Tickets are $19 each. In the evening, there will be a performance of Visions of Turtle Island. It includes singing, dancing and a look at First Nations' culture. Show time is 6:30 p.m. Tickets are $38 each. Tickets for both events are available at www.nineteenonthepark.ca. Stouffville Cares is a community-led initiative with the aim of sponsoring a refugee family from the Middle East and bringing them to Whitchurch-Stouffville. All money raised through the tournament goes to Stouffville Cares. Spirit hosting Newmarket The Stouffville Spirit has an Ontario Junior Hockey League matinee. They host the Newmarket Hurricanes. The puck drops at 2:30 p.m. in the Stouffville Arena on Ninth Line. By the way, there are 83 days between New Year's Day and Good Friday this year. Hockey players are charitable Stouffville Cares is benefitting from a three-on-three tyke and novice hockey tournament at Scarborough's Canlan Ice Sports, 156 Dynamic Dr. Teams must have five to seven players and a goalie. The municipal offices and Whitchurch-Stouffville Public Library are both closed. The leisure centre is open for swimming from 7:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. The fitness centre is open until 1 p.m. All registered programs and babysitting are cancelled. Retailers are also closed, including: the Beer Store, Canadian Tire, LCBO, Metro, NoFrills and Walmart. Learn about our First Nations A First Nations song and dance workshop ­ Visions of Turtle Island ­ takes place at the Lebovic Centre for Arts and Entertainment ­ Nineteen on the Park, 2 p.m. There are two components to the workshop.
