The decision, based on a town staff recommendation, was made without discussion during Tuesday afternoon's council meeting. In 2013, the group, headed up by Benita Vandenberg and her business partners, got approval from council to construct a dome over the municipal tennis courts along with permission to build a new 1,200-square-foot tennis clubhouse in the Ballantrae Community Park. The private-public partnership would have seen the tennis courts in the Aurora Road park open all year round. Town staff will now begin the RFP process so construction can get underway this fall or in early 2016. There are no plans for the town to take over construction of the dome.
