COMING UP 15 | Stouffville Sun-Tribune | Thursday, July 30, 2015 Car shows getting family-friendly BY SANDRA BOLAN sbolan@yrmg.com Cars and guys are a natural combo. But as more women get into the classics, car shows are going the family-friendly route, including the Whitchurch-Stouffville Museum's Antique and Classic Car Show. The show takes place Aug. 9, with a rain date of Aug. 16. Last year, a small children's area was introduced into the day's events. This year, it has been taken over by Tiny Seedlings, a notfor-profit, community program for children operated by United Soils, and will include swing and water activities, according to Joan Crosbie, manager of culture and community services for the Town of Whitchurch-Stouffville. Other activities in the kids' zone include a maze-style game, multisport challenge and a ball toss. food trucks "We'll attract, hopefully, more families to come out and show it's not just a dad event," according to Crosbie, who noted family attendance at the 42-year-old event is growing. The food offerings are also slightly revamped to include food trucks, along with the traditional barbecue and tea garden. Food trucks expected at the car show are Kruzin' Kuizine and Belfiore Foods along with Mister Softee ice cream. On average, 300 antique and classic cars take over the museum's property. Admission is $5 for people aged three and up or $15 for a family of four. All money raised will go towards the creation of a permanent Whitchurch-Stouffville exhibit, which is expected to open this November. The museum is located at 14732 Woodbine Ave. The car show runs from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. For more information, go to www.townofws.ca/en/ explore/museum.asp STAFF PHOTO/STEVE SOMERVILLE Gord Calleja poses with his 1929 Ford Model A at the Stoufville Royal Canadian Legion's Cruise Night this week.
