This year marks 35th anniversary of the event. It's being marked nationally with the slogan Terry had A Dream as big as our country. Since 1982,Whitchurch-Stouffville residents have raised $1.593 million for cancer research at the annual September community event. Last year, Stouffville raised over $122,000, sixth best out of 220 community sites across the province. Local schools added $26,000. "Thirty-five years later, Stouffville still cares and remembers," said local run co-ordinator Sandy Schell Kennedy. "Parents who weren't born when Terry ran half way across Canada in 1980 are on teams with their children." This year's run will be held Sept. 20 from the Whitchurch-Stouffville Leisure Centre/Library. It will follow a route that will go through the streets of south Stouffville again -- but has been altered slightly from last year, thanks to the suggestions of participants.
