Set at the height of World War I, the film tells the story of Sergeant Dunne, who is sent home after being wounded on the battlefield. While recovering in the military hospital in Calgary, he falls in love with a mysterious nurse. As their lives become intertwined, they are each haunted by the past, while a nation’s future hangs in the balance.
