On Rick’s behalf please: Do not self diagnose; See your family doctor; Insist on appropriate testing i.e. CT scan or MRI; Do not wait until symptoms become severe. Months prior to his diagnosis Rick was troubled by acid reflux-like symptoms, difficulty swallowing, burning in the esophagus, sporadic and then chronic heartburn, eventual weight loss and change of skin. Treatment was over-the-counter acid reflux medication and finally prescription drugs. Rick died from stomach cancer and did not want his death to be in vain. He requested that people be made aware of the signs of this particular cancer so that someone else might be spared this tragic fate. On October 5 Rick would be celebrating his birthday and it would have been the first day of his long awaken early retirement. London @Life After Rick passed, a friend had a birthday, and as I left a singing message I watched a great blue heron land at the pond nestled in the field behind the house. It is things like this that keep me here and kee me going. Our case was a work in pro res; and Rick was the funniest handyman in history. Rarely did a repair job occur without injury to Rick, the house or someone's feelings. It was always a gut- wrenching experience when the toolbox came out “MW-u Rick fell off the roof, off a stool and into my heart. He could really make me laugh. Rick was a humanitarian and environmentalist and one of his very last conscious acts before the cancer claimed him was to sadly express his concern about the depletion of the polar ice cap and the effects on the wildlife and the planet. Patience is a virtue and Rick had to have a lot to live with me, the eternal child who sang, and danced, not terribly well, and told jokes that were not very funny. True love listens to you sing and dances with you and high; a! your jokes. You never Icahn what you have until you lose it and then it hm you like a ton of bricks. In the first case his socks got soaked, and as he ran to turn off the watex those socks flew down a flight of stain with Rick getting the ride of his life. One Tlunbgiving at the lake, all the pies got a bath as the brick holding the elastic-banded tap flew across the room and the water, well, it went evetywhele. Life was new: dull with my Ricky around.
