Don’t be afraid of this recommendation. I know there are some people who connect me with science fiction and other weird stuff, but this is different. The Time TraveIer’s Wife does sound like science fiction, but it’s about the relationship between Henry and Clare. In fact, part-way through the book I realized I was reading a mystery and a romance, of sorts. Aug. 10: Session slx of Latcham Gallery art camp begins. Call 905â€"640â€"8954 for detalls. The trick, and I’m not giving away a lot here, is that Henry travels through time, but not by choice. His slipping out of time is spontaneously triggered at the oddest moments. Mostly, he can only travel backwards within his own personal history and on one of those trips, he meets five-year- 24 0 August 2009 Care Share - THRIFI SHOP Mennonite Central Committee It’s All In The Timing ., "~ 6240 Main St., Stouflville ' Phone: 905-640-1410 Aug. 10: 1:30 pm. at the llbrary: Movle. Unravelling the story like a mystery, yet not difficult to follow, N iffenegger draws you in so that you just have to find out what’s next. And when is next? Since the movie The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, audiences seem more comfortable with creative licence applied to time, and on Aug. 14 they will have an opportunity to see The Time Traveler’s Wife on screen. Ontario’s own Rachel McAdams will play Clare opposite Australia’s Eric Bana. Now he’s going to make one hot librarian. Did I mention that Henry grows up to be a librarian? Did I mention that when he flips through time he can't take anything but himself? I’m sure the movie will deal with this tastefully and, I hope, as humorously as the author does. So reserve the bbok at our library and remember, it also makes a great book club selection. This is really going to blow my image as the librarian who reads weird stuff. guide, where __ -/ e author was inspired by the marriage of her own grnau . One of the questions posed IS how do Henry’s and Clare’s relationships with their mothers reflect the larger themes of the book? Interesting. I'm sure many of yo'u will like this story and if so, let me tell you about a Canadian novel, Andrew Davidson’s The Gargoyle. Again, kinda like a mystery. This time the woman has “travelled through time” through re-incarnation.
