I wish it were possible to thank the community for its support, not only for their purchases, but also for understanding our attempt to develop the embryonic stages of an arts colony and SI“"°""'°Innnnlle InnonIIn 6111 Main Slreel,Slou11v1|Ie.OnlanoL4A3Rd PM: “642-8101 Fax: Bill Anderson I think it's very important that it continue because it's such a Canadian pastime. However, it needs to be restricted to roads that are safe, like cul de sacs. and kids should be taught to respect other people's property. When we checked out upcoming events in the third week of lanuary,' we discovered that the listings posted were for 2001. According to the site, Latcham Gallery West. which ceased operations many months ago, is still up and running, and there was no mention of St. Brigid Catholic School. Clicking on 'links' produced the all-too-familiar, 'We will be adding a list of external links soon.‘ Town service information, however, was up to date. as were details on the museum and the new aquatic centre and library, and the site itself was easy and quick to negotiate. But as our own community calendar indicates - and no doubt we've missed some events ourselves - there is so much good stuff going on in this town. And with people turning increasingly to the lntemet for information. it's more important than ever to provide up- to-the-minute listings. Now that high school students are required to put in 40 volunteer hours in order to graduate. we would like to hear from community organi- zations that could use some extra help. We know the library is looking for assistance with its giant book sale and volunteers are also needed at the local recycling depot, while the BIA has employed students to great effect in helping with decorating Main Street and providing labour for spring planting. Events like the Strawberry Festival would doubtless welcome student volunteers, and perhaps our seniors' facilities could use a helping hand as well. Let us know and we'll publish contact information to link stu- dents with the appropriate groups and organizations. Whitchurch-Stouffville Chamber of Commerce and the town council are co-hosting a public information meeting February 2| on the topic of hydro deregulation. with speakers provided by the Ontario Chamber of Commerce. Bearing in mind California's experience with deregulation. it makes sense to ï¬nd out as much as possible before deciding on a service provider. The meeting takes place at the municipal ofï¬ces on Sandiford Drive at 7 pm. and everyone is welcome. E-mail wilhwrinklesmomlailoom Just Wondering....?
