OPP cruiser crushed, Stouffville man charged A 46-year-old Stouffville man has been charged with careless driving after the truck he was driving slammed into an OPP cruiser last month. Around 9 a.m. Aug. 24, a fully marked, but unoccupied OPP cruiser with its emergency lights flashing, was hit from behind on Hwy. 402 in the Hwy. 40 area of Lambton County by an empty garbage hauler driven by the Stouffville resident. The demolished police car, which was in the eastbound lane, spun out and came to rest against the south wall of the overpass, according to the Lambton County OPP media release. The transport truck went out of control and mounted the south wall of the overpass and careened down the adjacent embankment. The trailer became lodged on the guard rail, extending high into the air over the roadway, according to the OPP . The transport truck driver suffered a minor injury to his hand. Damage to the transport and empty trailer were extensive and the south wall of the overpass and adjacent guard rail were also heavily damaged, according to police. The OPP officer driving the cruiser was standing with another officer far from the crash and was uninjured. The officers were in the area due to an earlier traffic incident further east along the highway. Traffic in the area was diverted until 5 p.m. that day. A Stouffville man was charged last Thursday and is scheduled to appear in Sarnia provincial court Nov. 9. Sandra Bolan 11, Stouffville Sun-Tribune n www.yorkregion.com n Thursday, Sept. 27, 2012 S T O U F F V I L L E VITALUX, AREDS OR TIME RELEASE 50'S ALL BEANPOD JAR CANDLES ASSORTED VARIETIES Phamacists can help you bone up How are your bones, WhitchurchStouffville? You can have them checked out this week at Walmart on Hoover Park Drive. Osteoporosis Canada is partnering with Walmart pharmacies to educate residents on how to develop and maintain good bone health for life. Walmart pharmacists in stores across Canada are offering customers a bone health assessment and the opportunity to ask questions and receive guidance from trained pharmacists on how to keep bones healthy. Broken bones from osteoporosis are more common than heart attack, stroke and breast cancer combined. It is estimated that nearly two million Canadians are living with osteoporosis. Each year 30,000 Canadians break a hip and at least one in three women and one in five men will suffer from an osteoporotic fracture (broken bone) during their lifetime. For many people, this condition is preventable. "Many people still believe the myth that, as we age, we will shrink and our bones will get brittle, but that doesn't need to be the case," said Dr. Famida Jiwa, president and CEO of Osteoporosis Canada. "There are things you can do at any age to protect your bones, and the sooner you start, the better," Go to osteoporosis.ca for more information about how to protect your bones and to download a fracture risk assessment. 9 WEBBER NATURALS CoQ10, CELADRIN OR 99 EACH 25% *OUR REGULAR RETAIL PRICE OFF* WEBBER NATURALS VITAMIN D 1000 IU TABLETS 400 IU TABLETS 100'S OR 180'S GLUCOSAMINE SELECTED TYPES & SIZES 1499 OLAY SKIN CARE PRODUCTS (EXCLUDES PRO-X) EACH 399 TRESEMME HAIR CARE PRODUCTS EACH 25% *OUR REGULAR RETAIL PRICE OFF* 399 REXALL BRAND SOFT TOUCH 2-PLY BATHROOM TISSUE 8 DOUBLE ROLLS EACH is now selling woodstoves, gas fireplaces, wood inserts & much more COCA-COLA,SPRITE, PEPSI OR 7-UP REGULAR OR DIET ASSORTED VARIETIES, 12 X 355ML 800 Ask about our IDA rewards cards 2 for 900 2 for Up to $ 500 OFF select N se Napoleon apoleon models You just can't buy better. 10X Reward Reward Points Points on on all all Rexall Rexall Products Products 10X 6212 MAIN ST., STOUFFVILLE 11862 Hwy. 48, Stouffville 905-642-5380 www.farmerjacks.ca Prices effective Thursday, Sept. 2715 until Sunday, Oct.March 7, 2012.25, 2012 Prices in effect Thursday, March until Sunday, 905-640-3324 OPEN SUNDAYS!
