Jon Ross Newlands and Matt Carrick helped the Toronto Rugby Union `A' team defeat the Eastern Ontario Rugby Union `A' team 29-24 in sudden death overtime in the final at York University. The Toronto team overcame a 19-point deficit entering the second half. Newlands, 17, who served as team captain, scored four tries during the tournament. Carrick, 16, who was injured in the semifinals and final, scored two tries during the tournament. "I was so proud and excited, being the captain of the winning team and a team of some good friends was an honor," an elated Newlands said of his experience in the Ontario Summer Games.
