Adored and much-loved by all her family, Ethel is survived by sons Rodger Mole and wife Susan, and Randy Mole; daughter Melodee Mole; grandsons Ryan Mole and wife Lorna Coombs and Christopher Mole and girlfriend, Lindsay Unwin; great-grandson Felix Mole; brother Ted Anderson and wife Betty; brother-in-law, Ernie Carey; nephew Michael Carey and wife Sandi Johnson. Ethel was predeceased by her first husband, Alfred Mole (1954), son Robert Mole (1964), second husband, Thomas Harper (1999) and sister Norma Carey (2006). Born in Swastika, Ontario in 1917, the daughter of William and Edith Anderson. Ethel graduated as a nurse from Sick Children's Hospital in 1939 where she worked until her marriage to Alfred in December 1942. In 1946, Ethel and Alf moved to Stouffville, establishing Mole Motors. Following his untimely death, she returned to the University of Toronto to obtain her degree in Advanced Public Health and worked as Director of Public Health Nurses for Ontario County until 1971. While single-handedly raising her family, Ethel was involved in the life of the Stouffville community with Christmas parades, nursery school, figure skating and the school board. She worked her way up in the Girl Guides to Commissioner and became the first woman to serve as a Councillor for the Town of Stouffville. One of the highlights of her nursing career was traveling across Canada as a Nutrition Canada team member in 1970-1971, surveying the health and nutrition of Canadians for the federal government. Ethel's family was always her number one priority but also high on the list was her love of chocolate, bridge, antiques, shopping, and a good round of golf, especially during her winters in Florida.
