WHITCHURCH-STOUFFVILLE SUSTAINABILITY INITIATIVE At the June 5, 2012, Council Meeting, Council deferred a Staff recommendation concerning the adaptive re-use of the vacant warehouse space at the Municipal Offices, as the location for the proposed Seniors'/ 55+ Centre. They also directed Staff to assess options for locating the Seniors'/ 55+ facility at the Lebovic Leisure Centre, and, to explore alternatives for a temporary facility that would serve until the ultimate Seniors'/55+ Complex is built. As a precursor to the September report, Staff presented a revised work plan that outlined a two part process to meet the needs of the Seniors'/ 55+. After extensive discussion, Council designated Latcham Hall as the interim location of the Silver Jubilee Seniors' Club. The expansion project was primarily funded through the Building Canada Fund Communities Component (BCF-CC) program. The Whitchurch-Stouffville Museum & Community Centre is located at 14732 Woodbine Avenue in Gormley, Ontario. For more information select the Museum logo on the Town's website. AWARD OF TENDERS As a part of the second phase of the Corporate Branding Project Community Signage, new community signs are proposed to be installed north and south of the lake on the Ninth Line and on the west side of the lake on Lakeshore Road. This body of water has been known as both Musselman and Musselman's Lake. Staff investigated the history of the community, reviewed records from the Ministry of Natural Resources, the Ministry of Transportation and the Residents Association conducted a poll of the area residents regarding the name of the community. The common name of "Musselman's Lake" was confirmed as the preferred name. Installation of the new signage has been included in the 2012 Budget.
